Here you will discover more about our shop and our history in the heart of Bolton. Booths Music is situated on Churchgate and has been one of Bolton’s leading musical instrument shops since 1832. It was Mr. James Booth, who is the great, great, great, great grandfather of the present owners who originally founded the store. His passion for music has been passed down through the generations and to all our expert staff and music tutors.
What will you find in store?
Firstly, our music shop stocks a wide range of new and preowned musical instruments and accessories. These range from guitar tutor books, banjo’s and electric violins to guitars, brass and woodwind instruments. Secondly, music lessons are very popular with us now and all take place at our Bolton centre (see below for more details). Thirdly, we also have a workshop in store and can help with all musical instrument repairs and restorations. These include guitar setups, woodwind repairs, effects & amplifier repairs and more.

Booths Music is an independent music retailer, school and music recording facility. We operate from the heart of Bolton within a thriving musical community.
The staff at the shop play an integral part in the local music scene. This includes supplying goods and providing services, advice and information to local musicians, venues, music societies and bands (from brass band to rock) for decades.
Booths Music is probably more known for carrying a fantastic stock of instruments. In addition we have a sheet music supply, tuition studios and the best selection of accessories for all musicians in the area. Services also offered include event ticket sales and promotion, local musicians wanted or available as well as a professional repairs and restorations workshop.
Music Lessons in Store
As of 2007 , we also have our music school. Experienced music tutors are on hand to give lessons and tuition in everything from guitar lessons to drum and woodwind tuition and vocal lessons. Our Bolton teaching studios are spacious and comfortable. Moreover, all music lessons have highly competitive rates and flexible hours. At 12.00 he had to be told that he was holding his guitar the wrong way round and at 12.30 he came home to show his Mum he could play Jurassic World!!!! 27th September 2017Took my guitar in for a repair, which is putting it mildly, god knows what had been done to it before it was given to me. New frets, and some serious rehabing later it looks great and sounds great.They even remembered to restring it for a left hander. I honestly though it was a lost cause but they proved me wrong and for less than a cheap replacement would have cost.

Friendly local music shop. Knowledgeable staff, always have the bits in that you need. Impressive collection of strings, straps, accessories, and various instruments. I’ve even had luck buying a Floyd Rose saddle block from here, something you’d usually have to get on eBay.
