This time last year, the Booths team began a campaign to raise money to build our very own pop up stage to showcase students and local musicians on a regular basis. Twelve months later, we’re delighted to say that the stage as well as an accompanying marquee shelter are now ready to go.
We at Booths would like to thank all those who donated and those involved in the money raising. We’re pleased to announce that the final total came to a staggering £1149! This total includes funds raised at various events, such as the Summer Concert 2014 (£527), the Summer Buskathon (£127) and the Christmas Carol Concert (£146). You may also remember our popular Stagg rhythm challenge involving over 80 enthusiastic drummers, which raised £142 for the stage fund. Add this to our Buskathon price match and the £80 of generous counter donations by our customers and we reach our target.
The £1149 raised has gone towards a £950 stage, that we can easily set up for street or private performances. The stage can be set at varying heights, lengths and widths. Many thanks go to Pete (who also works with the Octagon Theatre) for doing such a great job with the construction. Having topped up the rest, the money also went to a £499 marquee which means we can set up come rain or shine.
Stage in Action Next Weekend!
The stage will be put to straight to use as soon as next week, when we host our first String Day. As part of the BBC Get Creative month, the day will feature live performances, industry talks, a word on Samuel Crompton’s violin as well as product demonstrations. It should also be a fitting start to the use of our brand new stage!
