During November, students here at Booths Music are taking part in a sponsored “Practise Week” that has been organised by piano tutor Alex Daly.
Alex is involved with a charity project that sends college students to Moshi, Tanzania, and makes achievements in two main areas – teaching children in schools using the students’ own knowledge of English and other subjects, and providing relief in hospitals and clinics undertaking tasks such as processing patients and operating vaccinations in understaffed hospitals. The project will last for four weeks during the summer for 2016 and Alex feels that the teaching abilities he has been developing at Booths will be transferable to the classrooms in Tanzania.
Get involved in Practise Week!
There is quite a challenging yet rewarding experience ahead for Alex and we would like to offer the full support of everyone at Booths Music to help him raise fund for the trip via the means of a sponsored Practise Week, using any week in November for students to complete a set practice regime.
In order to contribute to the fund raising, pupils are commiting to at least twenty minutes of practise per day over the course of one week and to gather sponsorship per practise session. It should be a bit of fun as well as encouraging students to improve on their skills, and all along we’ll be helping Alex and a good cause.
Please speak to your tutor or a member of staff for more information and GOOD LUCK to all those taking part!
